Facebook photo.By John Heinis/Hudson County ViewWalletHub compared 501 of the most populated U.S. cities across three key metrics: 1. Ethnoracial Diversity, 2. Linguistic Diversity and 3. Birthplace Diversity. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with 100 representing the most ethnic diversity. They then determined city’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its “Ethnic Diversity Score” and used the resulting scores to rank-order our sample. Each city in their sample refers to “city proper” and excludes the surrounding metro area.“Being named the most diverse city in the nation once again is more than just a ranking to us here in Jersey City, it is a fact that highlights all we have to offer as one of the state’s largest cities, as a sanctuary city, and as a place where we support all of our residents regardless of ethnicity, race, or gender as we see our diversity as an asset that sets us apart as the best place to live and work,” Mayor Steven Fulop said in a statement.“In Jersey City, we celebrate our diversity, and we will continue to serve as a model for other municipalities to follow as we build upon the multitude of resources implemented by this administration to ensure equal opportunity for all.”WalletHub had also ranked Jersey City number 1 in 2017, 2018, and 2020.last_img read more
