This is an exceptional opportunity for adynamic and accomplished communications and marketing executive topartner with a president of an AAU university, working with senioradministration and key stakeholders alike, to develop and implementa comprehensive communications and marketing strategy. The VPUCwill oversee and influence communications and marketing effortsacross the university to establish a strategic platform thatunifies messaging and positioning for UO, supports and furthers thegoals of the entire university and its individuals units, andengages internal and external constituents. Beyond the traditionalscope of this role, the VPUC also will serve as counsel andsounding board to the president and his cabinet on a variety ofuniversity-wide issues.Position RequirementsThe VPUC will have a clear record of success as an innovative andcollaborative leader in a large, complex, mission-drivenorganization with substantial experience developing andimplementing multi-faceted communications and marketing effortsthat position and elevate the perception of an entire institution,brand, or company with multiple audiences. This person will needexceptional diplomacy, discretion, and judgment; a fullunderstanding of the communications and marketing process fromcreative conceptualization to implementation; expert knowledge oftraditional, digital, video, and emerging media; a robust base ofexperience dealing with the media; and demonstrated successfostering a team culture and building an efficient, cohesive, andcollaborative team. In addition, the VPUC must possess the abilityto articulate a vision for communications and marketing thatadvances UO’s reputation, nationally and internationally, andinspires internal communications partners across the organization.Equally important are a collaborative, collegial orientation andthe political savvy and flexibility to navigate a complex academiccommunity. A bachelor’s degree, at least seven years demonstratedsenior leadership, and a minimum of five years of supervisoryexperience are required.
